gold pips

i talked about doing this last year and finally i got around to it.. gold leafed squash seeds. it's easy but a bit tedious. this is most of the seeds from an acorn squash. clean all the seeds and let them dry for a good long time. i left mine for a few months. then follow the directions on the gold leaf package and string onto heavy thread with a sewing needle. tie the ends to whatever clasp you have on hand. i save old broken jewelry for this sort of thing. i tied on the bows to cover the knotted thread ends at the clasps. finish w a tiny stitch in each bow and a quick spray of clear sealer over the whole thing to keep the gold from tarnishing.

i'll add a few more strands w the next squash.
