I have the little tree up in the corner of the dining room. It's dressed in 30s chenille candy canes and 20s-30s glass bead garlands. Then there are the 4' tall 1950s department store candles - Lithographed aluminum with original flame bulbs. This is the first year I've actually used them. I think they really make the little tree
Also, check out what I got at the auction yesterday -
It's a repro of the Panton waterfall lamp. No one wanted it, but I decided it went all too well with the sequined circus elephant drapes on the tables to pass up.

your trees look great! i wish i had saved (or snagged) some of the older ornaments from my moms house, but i guess that means i just get to dig for some of my own treasures at the thrift!
my grandmother has a bunch of old ornaments that have that frosted, fake snow look and an almost caved in side with a little scene in them. i'd love to find some of my own, but i don't know what they're called. any ideas?
The glass ones with the concave side are called witch eyes and are supposed to ward off evil. The deeper the eye the better.
I have some plastic balls and teardrops that have flowers and little scenes in them. Also I have some cardboard and velvet balls with one side opened and elf dolls hanging out. What were hers made of?
Thanks for the birthday wishes! Love the holiday decor :)

I think the ones she had were glass and they were all pretty deep. They were big enough for miniature trees and settings from what I remember!
This is the closest I could find from a quick google search: http://www.sheilazellerinteriors.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/2011-Christmas-Vintage-Ornaments-012.png
They were probably about that big and just as deep. If I can't find some on etsy this might be a good time to make my first ebay bid.
actually right now prices will be running higher than any other time. If you can stand to wait try after the holiday.
so you might want to include witch eye with your search terms. and maybe diorama.
THE CANDLES!
Amazing, as per usual!
