Help identify this fruit

Is anyone familiar with this tiny citrus fruit? It has faint stripes at the blossom end (more pronounced on the immature fruit) and a light orangey scent. My neighbor thought they were tiny lemons but I'm not so sure.

Sasha here isn't sure either.
++EDIT++
I cut it open - orange citrus flesh, about 8 little pips, BITTER orange flavor. I wonder if I can candy it like a kumquat.

Isn't she? That's my neighbor's dog Sasha. She comes to visit my dog most every day

I agree, such a sweet dog :-)! The fruit looks and sounds like a quince. Such a fragrant smell but bitter tasting and apparently only good for making jam (jelly) or roasting, not eaten raw.

Quinces have flesh more like an apple or pear. This is definitely an orange type flesh inside - or like a lemon/lime but it's dark orange.
But thanks for the suggestion Claire! We'll figure this out yet

I think it's a calamondin? Kinda very like kumquats but look deceptively like tiny wee tangerines. Yes you can candy them! Or make delicious jam or liqueur or cake or marinade, pretty much anything that's got enough sugar to counteract the SOUR!ORANGEness.
