She's got a bit further to go, but this is the first day I'm happy with her. Last week I was ready to scrap her altogether.

When I got this 1970s knit dress from the warehouse in Philly it was a shambles. Stained, no zipper, and most of the thread had rotted out such that the pleated skirt part was almost completely detached. Nothing a little TLC, a lot of thread and a fair amount of cursing couldn't fix.




It is really pink - like that impossible 90s Barbie hot pink. So good with bleached out hair. I do like cartoons.

Worn w my beloved Comme des Garcons pumps, but honestly I'll probably change them out for black&white graphic novel docs for my errands.

and now for something of historical significance II

I have managed to amass quite a tidy collection of vintage photographs over the years - this being the prized piece - a previously unpublished photograph of President Roosevelt.
These were taken in 1934 when he visited the Norris Dam in Tennessee.

These were taken by Bernie Presnal, who helped build the Norris Dam while working in a CCC camp. I found a massive collection of his photographs abandoned in an apartment here in Florida many years ago. Many more of his pictures and letters can be seen here.

State Fair Take II

There's a big difference between going to the fair at 10AM on a Wednesday and 6PM on a Saturday. I had to go back to get pictures with all the lights on.

FL State Fair 2012

Dawn and I went up to Tampa today for the state fair. It was lots of fun, as the pictures I took will attest. These are my favorite kinds of things to shoot. I think maybe my calling in life is to document the great American carnival. I can think of a lot worse jobs.







That ball landing in the bowl represents one of 4 goldfish that Dawn won.

You could get rides in the original Bat-copter! If I'd had my Phenergan on me I'd have done it, but no one wants to be the guy who puked in the original Bat-copter.





Zamora the Gorilla Girl was in Diamonds are Forever (as was the clown game I shot at Circus Circus at New Years) -but maybe not the same Zamora. We didn't go in to see her.





Pretty sure they had a nutria in here.

There were tons of animals also, but I didn't get many pics of them. I needed both hands to pet and feed them.

irresistibly weird

Comme des Garcons polo shirt, with 2 extra shirts attached at the spines. There are both sane and an insane ways to wear it, but I like it best as I think it was intended - with the extra shirts just hanging at the back like a strange little capes. From the front it's perfectly normal, and from the back it's perfectly nuts.
